Cityscape: Foundation Shares a Gift of Happiness

The Shaka Franklin Foundation For Youth distributed more than 225 wooden toys to three Denver organizations that work with the needy. The toys, made by inmates at the Limon Correctional Facility, went to the Crawford Family Resource Center, the Curtis Park Community Center, and Byers Alternative High School. The Limon inmates also made 1,700 cloth bags that children can put toys in and carry around.

"These guys made a lot of kids happy," said Les Franklin, founder of the foundation. "They really don't get enough credit for what they do to aid the community." Franklin said the staff at Limon pledged to do the same next year.
